The world's first biotechnology-driven ‘blue rose’ - synonym for the impossible – is now possible.

Suntory Limited (Osaka City, Japan), jointly with Florigene Ltd. (Victoria, Australia), has successfully developed the world's first biotechnology-driven ‘blue rose’.

For the first time in the world, SUNTORY has succeeded in creating blue pigment in roses by silencing the rose DFR by hairpinRNAi, replacing it with an iris DFR along with implanting the gene that leads to the synthesis of blue pigment from pansy.
